2012 Cadillac SRX and CTS sedan obtain NHTSA’s 5-Star Safety Rating

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is still on the process of testing the overall safety features of all the new vehicle models in the market. This is part of the administration’s role in ensuring that all of the vehicles offered to car buyers are equipped with the appropriate safety technologies that could prevent the occurrence of serious injuries and deaths caused by collision and other types of vehicular accidents.

Based on the results of the current tests conducted by the NHTSA, the 2012 Cadillac SRX and the CTS sedan obtained the 5-Star safety rating, which is considered as the highest score awarded by the administration. Due to this, the 2012 Cadillac SRX and CTS sedan were recently included on the list of 2012 models that were able to obtain the agency’s top safety ratings.

Just like the other models that were tested, the SRX and the CTS sedan were subjected to the frontal impact, side pole impact, side impact, and rollover crash tests. Remarkably, both of the models did well on the crash test simulations. The vehicles’ airbags launched strategically and these were able to provide the cushion needed by the car occupants during collision.

After examining the dummies used on the simulations, the agency revealed that the occurrence of possible serious injuries brought by the impact is minimal. In addition to this, the body designs of the SRX and the CTS sedan were very successful in absorbing the force of impact and this was one of the main reasons why the NHTSA awarded the two models with the 5-star safety rating.

Although the 2012 Cadillac SRX and CTS sedan have obtained the 4-star rating in the rollover test, their overall safety averages reached the 5-star mark. Due to this, the 2012 Cadillac SRX and the CTS sedan could be considered to be among the top safety picks for 2012.
