General Motors has already unveiled the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado together with the 2014 GMC Sierra last December without any concrete information regarding the trucks’ performance data. However, General Motors has gradually released some of the information regarding the vehicle’s engine lineup.
Based on the latest information provided by the US carmaker, the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado which is powered by the 4.3-liter V6 engine is expected to emerge as the latest model to provide the best torque in its class. General Motors is quite confident that the upcoming version of the Silverado V6 will be able to establish the best torque in its class since the carmaker’s personnel was able to implement a number of improvements on the 4.3-liter V6 engine used on the vehicle.
According to General Motors, the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado which is propelled by the 4.6-liter V6 engine is capable of producing up to 305 pound-feet of torque. Such figure is relatively higher than the 278 lb.-ft. of torque produced by the standard 3.7-liter V6 engine used in the latest version of the Ford F-150, a model which is considered as the Silverado’s arch rival.
Aside from that, the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado V6 beats the latest version of the Ram 1500 in terms of the maximum amount of torque produced. The latest version of the Ram 1500 which is powered by the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 only generates up to 269 lb.-ft. of torque and this is very low compared to the 2014 Silverado’s 305 lb.-ft. of torque.
Although the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado dominates the F-150 and the Ram 1500 in terms of the maximum torque generated, the former is still inferior compared to the last two models mentioned earlier when it comes of horsepower. This is because the Silverado’s engine is only capable of producing up to 285 horsepower while the F-150 generates up to 302 horsepower and the Ram 1500 produces up to 305 horsepower.
