2014 Kia Sorento Earned the 5-Star Safety Rating

Kia Motors America (KMA) confirmed that the company’s top-selling crossover utility vehicle which is the 2014 Kia Sorento has aced the series of safety tests that were conducted on it by the federal safety regulators.

According to the information provided by a press release that was published on KMA’s media and dated September 23, 2013, the redesigned 2014 Kia Sorento obtained the 5-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Although getting higher safety scores from the NHTSA is quite common on some of the carmaker’s models, the latest rating obtained by the 2014 Sorento could be considered as significant since the 5-star overall safety rating is the highest mark that the NHTSA provides.

In addition to that, the press release also explained that the 2014 Kia Sorento successfully obtained the 5-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA since the vehicle was able to provide an outstanding performance when this was subjected to the frontal as well as the side impact crash tests. Furthermore, the Sorento also achieved higher marks when this was subjected by the agency to its rollover testing.

Given such impressive results, Orth Hedrick who is the current executive director of KMA’s product and planning division pointed out that the Sorento was able to pass the NHTSA’s crash tests with higher marks since the vehicle was built on an all-new platform that makes use of the company’s advanced safety equipment and technologies. Such technologies according to Hedrick were responsible allowing the Sorento with the capability to provide high level of protection to its drivers as well as to their families.

Aside from getting the highest overall safety score from the NHTSA, the 2014 Kia Sorento was also recognized by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) as one of its Top Safety Pick. Thus, the recent result of the NHTSA’s tests was actually the vehicle’s second significant accomplishment in terms of vehicle safety.

Given such recognitions, Hedrick took pride in claiming that the Sorento will surely be considered as a strong contender on the segment where it is sold. In addition to that, he pointed that these accomplishments also clearly underscore the carmaker’s commitment of delivering vehicles with impressive safety and exceptional value to its consumers.
