950 and 1,100 Horsepower Mustangs Will Bow at This Year’s New York Auto Show

A lot of car experts currently believe that Ford will introduce the two versions of the Ford Mustang Shelby rated at around 900 and 1,100 horsepower at the 2012 New York Auto Show. These beliefs were somehow confirmed since many reports have stated that Ford was able to produce two versions of the Shelby 1000 and these are recently subjected to tests.

According to a number of reports from reliable sources, Ford Motor Company has successfully come up with the production version of what they are referring to as the “Shelby 1000.” These sources have also confirmed that the Shelby 1000 would be available in two versions namely the “street” version which is capable of producing up to 950 horsepower and the Shelby 1000 S/C which is capable of pumping a maximum power output of up to 1,100 horsepower.

The significant boost in the maximum horsepower produced by these versions of the Shelby are considered as one of the most significant achievement by the company at the present since these vehicles are viewed as the most powerful Shelby that they have produced so far.

In order to stretch the maximum power output produced by these cars, Ford engineers and other vehicle developers focused their attention in improving the performance of the engines used. They actually stripped the components of the 5.4-liter V-8 engine used on the Shelby 1000 and performed careful enhancements on some of these.

The engine’s block was detached from the assembly and this was subjected to a series of machine works. These upgrades were made to prepare the block for the installation of new rods, pistons, and crank. After doing this, the company’s personnel have installed a new supercharger on the engine which eventually allowed the entire assembly to produce an overwhelming amount of horsepower.

The company’s personnel also did the same upgrades on the 5.4-liter 4-cam V-8 used on the Shelby 1000 S/C. Due to these upgrades, the maximum power output that the 5.4-liter 4-cam V-8 engine is producing was further stretched to about 1,100 horsepower making this version as the most powerful Shelby that was ever produced.

But despite of the increase on the horsepower produced by the Shelby 1000, Ford has also made sure that the Street version is smog-legal in every state in the US since failing to do so will surely limit the number of states wherein this model would be sold. Due to this, it is quite correct to assume that the Shelby 1000 would surely be marketed all across the US.

To further provide the Shelby 1000 with its own unique features, Ford has also revised the vehicle’s front fascia. In addition to this, the vehicle was equipped with an exclusive 20-inch forged-alloy wheels and bigger brakes to handle the force produced by the powerful engine.
