Ford Confirms the 2013 Explorer Sport’s Maximum Power Output


Ford Motor Company has recently confirmed the maximum power output that the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport which is considered as the high performance version of the iconic SUV nameplate.

Based on the information provided by car maker, the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport which is equipped with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine is currently capable of producing an estimated maximum power output of up to 365 horsepower.

Prior to this confirmation, Ford’s engineers and vehicle developers actually predicted that the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport will only generate the maximum power output of up to 350 horsepower. Due to this, those who were involved in developing the vehicle were quite surprised that the actual tests conducted on Explorer Sport revealed that generating up to 375 horsepower was very much possible.

Given this official power output, the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport could be considered as the most powerful version in the lineup. This is because the 2013 Ford Explorer which is propelled by a naturally aspirated version of the 3.5-liter V-6 engine is only capable of delivering up to 290 horsepower and the model powered by the 2.0-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine is capable of generating up to 240 horsepower only.

Since the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport is currently viewed as the most powerful as well as the top-of-the-line version of the Explorer, this is also sold at a price which is a bit higher than the other models in the lineup. The current price of the Explorer Sport starts at $41,545 including the destination charge of $825.

The current price of the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport reflects a price difference of about $11,585 when compared to the base version. But despite of the relatively higher price difference between the base and the Sport versions of the Explorer, Ford is quite confident that most SUV buyers would still consider buying the latter since the maximum power output that it is generating is very much impressive compared to the former which is sold at a starting price of $29,960 including the destination charge of $825.

Aside from providing the confirmation regarding the vehicle’s maximum power output, Ford has also highlighted that the latest version of the Explorer Sport has obtained the estimated fuel-economy ratings of 16 miles per gallon in the city and 22 miles per gallon on the highway.

Finally, Ford has also took pride in informing the consumers that the 2013 Explorer Sport as well as the other variants are now equipped with the company’s new knee airbag for the front passenger.
