Pricing Details of the 2013 BMW ActiveHybrid 3 Revealed

BMW has finally released the pricing information of the 2013 ActiveHybrid 3. The release of the pricing details of the ActiveHybrid3 came a few months earlier that the vehicle’s actual selling period. According to BMW, the price of the 2013 ActiveHybrid 3 will start at $50,195. This figure also includes the destination charge placed on the vehicle which is about $895.

Considering the figure provided earlier, it is quite clear that the 2013 BMW ActiveHybrid 3 is located between the 2013 Lexus GS Hybrid and the 2012 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid in terms of pricing. The 2013 Lexus GS Hybrid is sold at a starting price of $59,825 including the $875 destination charge while the price of the 2012 Lincoln MKZ starts at $35,630 including the destination charge $875. These prices simply show that the Lincoln MKZ hybrid is cheaper than the ActiveHybrid 3 and the Lexus GS Hybrid is quite expensive.

Although the starting price of the 2013 ActiveHybrid 3 is lower than that of the Lexus GS Hybrid, the actual cost of buying the former could easily reach the $60,000 mark by purchasing a number of optional items that are sold individually. This includes the Harman Kardon surround sound system ($875), navigation system ($2,150), rearview camera ($400), and park distance control ($750).

The 2013 BMW ActiveHybrid 3 is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline -6 engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission coupled with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery. The two alternative power sources make the ActiveHybrid 3 more fuel-efficient since the electric motor kicks in when the vehicle needs. This mechanism simply suggests that the vehicle consumes lesser amounts of fuel since its functions are usually reduced into half with the electric motor propelling the ActiveHybrid 3 in special conditions.

The 2013 BMW ActiveHybrid 3 will be offered in three trim levels composed of the Luxury Line, Sport Line, and the Modern Line. Buyers who are interested with the Sport Line are required to spend an extra amount of $1,700. However, by spending this additional amount the buyer is given the chance to own an ActiveHybrid 3 which is equipped with additional features such as the sport-tuned suspension, 18-inch multi-spoke wheels, and a black chrome exhaust pipe.

Although the EPA has not yet rated the 2013 BMW ActiveHybrid 3’s fuel economy, a lot of car experts believe that when the vehicle goes on sale, this will not be able to create an impact just like the other hybrid car models since the release date coincided with the period wherein the prices of fuel in the US started to go down.
